Subject: Red Dead Redemption Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:38 am
I was extremely disappointed with the last two threads; V3 posting a link to V2, and V2 being a near copy paste of my V1, so I am here to hopefully revive the old Western frontier.
Red Dead Redemption is the 2010 sequel to Rockstar San Diego's 2004 game, Red Dead Revolver. Revolver was a linear Western third person shooter that took place in the late 1880's. The plot involved Red Harlow, who witnessed his family's death as a child, and ever since then he tried to find the source of who the murders were ordered by. Revolver has very, very little to do with Redemption other than the name, similar time periods, and small obscure references strewn throughout the game. If you notice, John also has very similar scars on his face just like Red does. Don't know the significance of that.
Redemption is a large free-roam game that takes place nearly 30 years after Revolver in 1911. It is currently only on Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3. It focuses on the border of Southern North America and Mexico. Rockstar developers said the 30 year time gap and to begin the game at the start of the industrial revolution are the extra weapons they are able to use and the use of cool government cars and stuff. Red Dead Redemption uses a largely improved euphoria system which is not only included on people, but animals as well. For those who don't know what it is, it offers realistic, highly dynamic ragdoll animations. It's like what GTA IV used, but like I said; largely improved.
Redemption starts you off as John Marston, a supposedly reformed outlaw who quit his old life to stay with his family and maintain an honest lifestyle on a quiet farm. Tying off one loose end at a time, John is forced to take out his old partners-in-crime Bill Williamson and Dutch Van Der Linde in order to save his family from pressuring federal agencies. Along the way, John meets and does tasks for passer-byers and people in order to gain information or help on defeating Bill and Dutch all over the Western frontier. The singleplayer storyline took me about 18 hours to complete.
Red Dead Redemption is split into 3 sections, or 2 worlds; New Austin and Mexico. The whole of it is about 28 square miles (or 72 square kilometers), which is double the size of Grand Theft Auto: San Andrea's land mass.
This is an image of almost the whole map. Blackwater is missing. *Can somebody please update this map to include Blackwater?
Like Grand Theft Auto IV, Redemption only allows you to unlock sections of the whole map at a time. There are 3 sections you procedurally unlock during the course of the singleplayer storyline. All 3 sections are automatically unlocked during multiplayer gamemodes.
There is a plethora of weapons in Red Dead Redemption, ranging from old fashioned six-shooters to sawn-offs and molotovs.
There are in total 26 weapons in Red Dead Redemption. At the main menu, there is a weapons tab which allows you to, at any time, select any of the weapons you have in your armory (Since you are only allowed one pistol, one rifle, one sniper rifle etc. at a time). There is also an ingame inventory system, which allows you to switch weapons at any time as well as a new cover system similar to, but still different, from GTA IV.
Pistols Cattleman Revolver Volcanic Pistol Semi-automatic Pistol High Power Pistol Mauser Pistol Schofield Revolver Double-Action Revolver Lemat Revolver
Rifles Repeater Carbine Winchester Repeate Henry Repeater Evans Repeater Springfield Rifle Bolt Action Rifle Buffalo Rifle
Projectiles & Such Fire Bottle Dynamite Throwing Knife Lasso Knife
You procedurally unlock weapons by doing missions and tasks, and after that you can purchase them from one of the many fine gun stores lining the towns. There are also golden weapons which you unlock by completing the weapons challenges for a specific gun. *Actually I am pretty positive this is only for multiplayer
The Dead-Eye system, which was also a large feature of Red Dead Revolver, is also a feature of Redemption. Similar to features in other Westerns a'la Call of Juarez and GUN. (Guess which game where they got it from, because Revolver came before both of them) The game slows down, and allows you to place reticles on a target and then the character will rapidly shoot each spot where a reticle was. Unlike Revolver, which only had one stage, Redemption has three "stages" of Dead-Eye you unlock throughout the story missions.
Stage One: This is just slow motion Max Payne style. No reticles. Stage Two: Slow motion & an auto-targeting reticle. Can be annoying sometimes. Stage Three: Slow motion & the option to manually place reticles. Trust me, this is better than stage 2 in the majority of situations.
The Dead-Eye system in multiplayer is stage 2, but it doesn't include slow motion. Wouldn't be fun for your game to suddenly go in slow motion constantly, would it.
Here's a nice little video Rockstar prepared for you guys which shows off some of the weapons and gameplay, as well as
There are two ways to save in Red Dead Redemption. Camping, and safehouses. Marston doesn't really have a home to go back to until near the end of the game, so he has to rely on any beds he can find. Many towns and farms have rooms you can rent or purchase for a fee. Sleeping allows you to save your game, and advance time by 6 hours. If you're stuck out in the middle of the plains or Mexico's vast cliffs, you can always go into your kit and pull a camp out of your ass. Camps also allow you to fast-travel to any destination, but that's no fun. Go on your horse and seek out some random events. Both safehouses and camps allow you to also change your outfit.
You meet a whole bunch of important people across your cool journey of revenge and stuff.
John Marston
This is the main protagonist of Red Dead Redemption. He's a former outlaw trying to correct the shit he fucked up etc. I explained it all in the singleplayer summary. He is a family man. John has about 14 or 15 outfits he can unlock in the game, usually by challenges or activities he can complete. Some of these outfits are for pure eye candy, while others can affect some gameplay. For example, the Elegant Suit allows you to cheat at poker, and the Reyes' Rebels outfit makes you less likely to be shot at by Reye's Rebels outlaws. He is out to kill his old gang buddies Bill Williamson and Dutch Van Der Linde. He is hesitant to kill his old friends, but he has no choice, as the feds took the Marston family hostage in exchange for the deathes of those two men.
Bonnie MacFarlane
Bonnie is one of the first big story-related people you meet (Besides Bill) in the game. She is a woman and is the daughter of the dad who owns the MacFarlane's farm. She helps you, then you help her, and she is pretty nice and is a woman.
Nigel West Dickens
Mr. West Dickens is a dirty fraud of a miracle elixir salesman, but he may be of use to you whenever you're not protecting his wussy old ass. Fun guy to be around.
Bill Williamson
One of John's old gang member buddies. After leaving John for dead back in the old days, Bill's the first person on John's hit list. He is in for a poopload of trouble from John's guns.
Dutch Van Der Linde *No picture available, partner*
Dutch was the former leader of the posse that him, John and Bill were all in. Dutch is also scheduled for a poopload of trouble from John's guns.
There are a huge number of other characters in Red Dead Redemption, but I've just given you the essentials you'll need to know at the start of the game.
The Women - Sinners, Saints and Survivors View YouTUBE video
The way that the law works in Red Dead Redemption is similar to Grand Theft Auto IV. If you kill or rob somebody or commit any threatening act, you'll get a bounty on your head. The more crimes you do or the higher the degree of the crime, the more bounty you'll get, the more lawmen will try to come after you, and the more bounty hunters will hunt you down. There's also a circle that the lawmen will chase you. It will be red if they see you (And likely shooting at you), and grey if they don't see you. Your wanted bar will slowly lose it's redness and you will be safe for a little while after it disappears.
There are a few ways to get rid of your bounty if you happen to get one. The first is a pardon letter, which you usually can get from doing good deeds for lawmen and the government. You can ride over to the train station and give your pardon letter to the fella there.
You can also just get arrested. You'll spend a few days (or more, depending on your crimes) in prison to pay off your debt to the new and blooming society. You holster your gun, stand still, and surely enough a lawman will put you under his wang. Wait no, wing. I think that's it.
My favorite way to pay off my debt is to just die in an epic shootout between Marston and law. I should also mention there are ways to avoid getting a wanted in the first place. If you're on the road and you kill somebody, chances are there was an eye witness. You can then make that eye witness witness the end of a bullet into his dick like I do. Good luck getting rid of all the eye witnesses in a town.
The amount of activities in Red Dead Redemption is fucking huge, and most likely will give you another 20 hours of playtime. This is where the most meat of the game is. As of writing this thread, my head is hurting at how much typing I will have to do just because of the large amount of stuff to do in Red Dead Redemption. Hnungh.
Missions Missions, like GTA IV, are signified by the first letter of a character's name on the map and can be started by moseying on down to the yellow X. Some missions need to start at a specific time when the character is around or a certain event has happened, but you can start or stop the missions at any time. Not only that, but now Rockstar Games has the Rockstar Social Club, which allows users to post their best scores from any single mission you've done in the game. From the main menu, you can also replay any of those missions that you've done so far at any time to enjoy them, or get a new score, or do something you can only do in that mission, whatever. Story missions propel John further into the game's immense storyline.
Hunting Hunting is my personal favorite activity. At any time you can shoot an animal, run over to their corpse, skin their fur/tusks/horns/teeth/meat/feathers/scrotums/organs/whatever and sell them to a merchant. You can use that money to buy bait (among other cool goodies) and attract the 34 different species of animals in the game. I'm not even sure if that number is accurate, because I swear I've seen more than that. Oh well.
You can hunt dogs, cattle, horses, wolves, cougars, bears (I stabbed one to death with a knife once, but then another bear saw it and was angry and stuff and I was all "u mad?" but it killed me so I never got to skin it.), elk, various birds, rabbits, skunk, goats, foxes, owls, pigs, buffalo, boars, etc. There's more.
Some of the animals can hunt you
Herding Most of the herding I've done is all because of story missions, but I know you can definitely herd stuff when you're not doing missions. Get on your horse and herd some cows or horse over to safety, or even a nice hunting spot. If they're horses, you can even lasso a couple, break them in a little minigame, then ride off into the sunset. I was reluctant to put this horse straddling activity into its own section because if I did that, the activity section would have like 200 subsections.
Here is John herding (and about to lasso) some Hersheys. Delicious chocolate Hersheys riding freely in the wilderness.
Gambling There are a large number of minigames you can play in Red Dead Redemption by visiting towns and saloons. My personal favorite is liar's dice, which is a very clever game where you must estimate the number of dice that your opponents have in their dice cups while taking into account your own number and the number that they guessed, then call their bluff if you think that number's impossible to get or unlikely. If you play it, you'll get the hang of it.
There is also arm wrestling, blackjack, poker, five-finger fillet(That is the one where you take a knife and try to stab it in between your fingers), and horseshoes. All have their own designated icons you can find on the map.
Bounties Fuck hunting, this is my favorite activity. Every so often a town will put up wanted posters. If you choose, you can walk up to one and rip it off which will activate that bounty quest. You will get a general area in the map of where the target was last seen, and you can ride over there and take care of them. They will have partners in crime around them, so be careful. The biggest part about bounties is that you can choose to take them dead or alive. If you want them dead, then kill them and take something to remember them by as proof. If you want your reward doubled, lasso them, put them on your horse and ride over to the sheriff. They're designated by a skull on the map.
Here is John carrying his (presumably) bounty target.
Robbing and Burglary If you choose, you can take the evil route in the game and fuck some shit up Marston style. If you feel like robbing somebody, take out your gun and point it at them. You'll get the option to rob them, and bam there you go. Be careful, though; lots of people liked to carry guns back in the old West.
Not only can you rob specific people, you can rob stores and their cash registers by breaking a window, or crack some safes.
"Gee Dean, robbing people and stores sounds pretty lame" you ask. "I want to rob something awesome like a train!"
Guess what? Your wish has come true. At any time, not like in GTA IV's expansion where you only had that one mission to climb on that train, at any time you can jump onto a moving train and rob the passengers. Or if you're a pacifist, simply hitch a free ride in one of the seats.
"Wow Dean that's so cool! It must be hard to get rid of the bounty on your head once you rob someone, though."
That is where you're almost wrong! If you purchase the bandanna from a general store, your identity remains concealed! If you rob somebody with the bandanna on, you can run off and take it off to make your wanted meter shrink much more quickly and with less chance of lawmen finding you.
Random Events Random events played a large part in Red Dead Redemption's marketing. Random events are exactly that; random. The Wild West was a harsh place. At any time, people were robbing, stealing, and murdering. Random events shows exactly that. Lets create an example situation. You are John Marston coming back from the town of Armadillo trying to ride over to the MacFarlane farm to help Bonnie with some cattle herding. Along the way, you see a blue circle on your map and a young woman shouting for help. You approach her, and she describes that a thief has just stolen her horse. Up ahead, you notice somebody quickly riding away on a grey horse. You and your mount sprint over to it. You shoot the thief in the leg so he survives but falls off, then you lasso the horse that is continuing on without a rider. You guide the horse, with lasso still attached, back to the woman. She thanks you and spreads the word about your fantastic deed. Now think of this exact situation, but instead you lasso the woman, take her out to the middle of nowhere, cut her loose, then shoot her in the back with a sawn-off shotgun just as she is running away. This situation is just one of many random events that occur in the world of Red Dead Redemption. Find stolen wagons, shoot the noose off innocent people, give a stranger a ride to a nearby town, duel a local who challenges your badassery, save a treasure hunter from thieves, assassinate coyotes chasing a man across the desert, and much much more. These events are what make the world "alive". If you don't want to do these, then don't. Just walk away and nothing will happen.
Stranger Missions Stranger missions are somewhat similar to random events, but much more unique and are more closely related to story missions. They are signified as as white question mark on your map, and are usually in "parts". As in if you complete one part of a mission, you may find a purple question mark on your map later which is part of that same stranger mission, yet has you continuing on the stranger's initial deed. The first significant stranger mission you will likely encounter is a missing boy in the mountains. The woman asks you to investigate, and you can investigate that mountain at any time. A few days later a man will complain of his wife missing in that same region. This keeps happening until you find the conclusion to this tale.
There are many other missions that have you doing small favors for strangers which you can start or continue at any time.
I've completed the game and still have a few stranger missions I've yet to complete.
Everything Else I'll be honest. There is too much fucking stuff to write about in Red Dead Redemption, so I'll hope you forgive me and understand if I just give you a short list of other activities you can participate in.
Treasure hunting Camping Drinking Clearing out gang hideouts Nightwatch (These are fun. Signified by a moon on the map) Gathering plants & flowers Dueling Shooting challenges (Ex. shooting a number of birds in a given time) Taming horses Everything else in this activities section
There are a number of outfits that John can wear in the game. Almost all of them you get by doing certain challenges or activities, and a few can manipulate how the game works. Some of the outfits require you to get "scraps" for the outfit, which is just doing a certain activity. Most outfits have about 6 or 7 if I do believe. Any and all outfits can be changed at a camp or safehouse.
Cowboy Outfit This is the default outfit of the game. The picture of it is in the characters section under John's part.
Gentleman's Attire You get this one by signing up for the Rockstar Social Club. Here's a bad picture. Personally, I think this looks ugly as shit. The white color is what makes me hate it and the lack of a hat. Its gameplay effect is that it allows you to enter in high-stake poker games.
Duster Coat This is one of my favorites. You unlock it by getting an honor rank of "Peacemaker".
Elegant Suit Most likely the coolest looking in my opinion. The Elegant Suit can be unlocked by either entering a game of poker, or going to the tailor's in Thieves Landing where you buy it there. The gameplay effect you ask? It allows you to cheat at poker.
John can hide an extra card, and you get a little minigame to pull it out; but if you're seen, you can get challenged to a duel. (I've done this on purpose before just because duels are fun)
Mexican Poncho It's John's cowboy outfit, but with a cool poncho over top. If you're an Eastwood fan, chances are you are going to wear this one a lot. Has no effect on gameplay, and you can unlock it by buying a safehouse in Nuevo Paraiso over in Mexico.
Reyes' Rebels Outfit I haven't bothered to unlock it, but it looks like it's a poncho with a headband. The gameplay effect is that the Mexican law will treat you kindly. I don't think this means you're immune, just that your wanted will go down faster and less lawmen will chase you. I'm copying and pasting the things you need to do to get it from the Red Dead Wikia. "Search Sepulcro - Southeast corner of the cemetery in a chest Complete the Poppycock Stranger's task Complete a Horsebreaking job in Chuparosa Complete the Love is the Opiate Stranger's task Win at Five Finger Fillet in Torquenada Purchase the scrap at the general store in Escalera"
Treasure Hunter Outfit To get this silly looking outfit, you have to get 6 scraps. Treasure hunters will consider you a pal if you wear it. Again, C+P. "Scrap 1: Search Silent Stead. (In a container in a small house just northwest of the intersection at Silent Stead) Scrap 2: Complete "California" Stranger's task. (Sam Odessa located directly north of The Scratchin Post passed rail road just shy of heavy black line west of where it dips) Scrap 3: Make a profit playing Blackjack at Rathskeller Fork. Scrap 4: Claim a Treasure Hunter bounty alive. (Also at Rathskeller Fork) Scrap 5: Complete Gaptooth Breach Hideout. (After completing Irish's Mission at Gaptooth Breach) Scrap 6: Purchase at the tailor in Thieves Landing (bought for $250)."
(PS3 ONLY) Walton's Gang Outfit Yes, a PS3 only outfit. Coolio. "Scrap 1. Search Solomon's Folly (scrap is found at the basement of the destroyed house) Scrap 2. Complete Horsebreaking job at Ridgewood Farm Scrap 3. Eliminate all other players in a game of Poker in Armadillo Scrap 4. Claim a Walton's Gang bounty alive Scrap 5. Defend residents of Cholla Springs from Walton's Gang Scrap 6. Purchase at the Tailor at Thieves' Landing"
US Army Outfit It makes you look like you're part of the American army (think Ranger Smith from Yogi Bear, but with a tan shirt). Again, I haven't bothered to unlock it, but the Red Dead Wikia says that the US Army and lawmen will treat you with respect. Scrap 1: In Aurora Basin, inside a cabin on the small lake. Scrap 2: Win at Arm Wrestling in the Pacific Union Railroad Camp. Scrap 3: Eliminate all other players in a game of Poker in Blackwater. Scrap 4: Successfully complete the "Lights, Camera, Action" Stranger's task. Scrap 5: Successfully complete a Nightwatch job in Blackwater. Scrap 6: Purchase from the tailor in Blackwater (can only be purchased after completing the game)
There's also some other ones worth mentioning like the Legend of the West outfit and the Federal outfit (which makes the law unable to touch you). Keep in mind there are like 15+ outfits in the game, I am not even scratching the surface of them.
This thread will be too huge if I put everything that I want to in their proper sections, so I'll have to quickly run down a list of cool things that happen in Red Dead Redemption.
Fame There is a fame system in Redemption. The more missions you do, the more deeds you do (Good or bad), the more famous you get. You could get so famous that everybody will recognize you and call you by your name. More people will line up to get a chance to duel with a famous star as yourself, you'll get discounts on things you buy or sell, etc.
Honor If you kill bad guys, your honor goes up. If you kill good guys, it goes down. Simple as that. You might lose or gain honor by killing certain people. Killing nuns will lose you more honor than regular townsfolk. Fending off a huge group of bandits from innocents will gain you more honor than killing a thief. There are pros and cons to having a high or low honor. If your honor is in the negatives, you'll get a cool black horse, but more lawmen will come after you, more people will hate you. If you're a good little boy, the opposite will happen.
Transportation There's a couple ways to move around the Land of the Dead, usually with Glottis' Bone Wagon. Fuck, wrong game again. Let me restart. There are a couple ways to move around the Wet & Wild West. Your first choice is most likely going to be a horse.
You can steal horses, break wild horses, or keep the ones from missions. The cool thing about horses is that you can call them at any time. They'll come running over to you, and you can mount them hard and long. If you steal a horse or something but want it to be your trusty steed so it comes when you call, you'll have to hitch it to a post which are usually in towns or in front of stores. There are different horses with different speeds and colors and whatnot. Also, donkeys are the same.
"Fuck that, I'm lazy and just want to use a different horse every time." you may ask. There are some upsides to using the same horse for long periods of time. Your horse will get attached to John, and will work harder to make his pleasure explode all over. It will go faster, go faster for a longer amount of time, get stronger, heal faster, etc. That is a good reason to keep your same horse.
The next time of transportation is fast-travel. I talked about this in the living arrangements section. If you make a camp out in the wilderness, you have the option to fast-travel to any location. Nice, fast, and cheap.
Third option of transportation is wagons, stagecoaches and carts. They work similar to horses, but instead of riding the horse you're up in the driver's seat. In multiplayer, 2 people can go on a stagecoach together and on some wagons. Some racing missions you do for Nigel West Dickens have you in a wagon.
Fourth and final is the train. You can walk on at a train station, or just jump on at any point from your horse. They go all around the map.
There are automobiles in this game, but no they are not drivable at any point.
DLC Some DLC has been confirmed for Redemption. All of them are free! There are six co-op mission packs coming out later in June, as well as the 2 outfits (Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant) that lost the outfit competition as free DLC later in June or July. If you don't know, awhile ago there was a contest to decide which three outfits would be in the game as a pre-order bonus. Deadly Assassin outfit won, and the Savvy Merchant & Expert Hunter outfits were scrapped as free super cool DLC.
Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack - June 22nd Walton's Gold This is one of the co-op mission DLC packs. Fight through a mining camp and fill your mine cart with as much gold as you can.
The River Ride a raft down the river while taking out rebel camps, and end the mission with a cool-ass battle at Nosalida.
Ammunition Use gatling guns, cannons and snipers to get rid of the smelly Mexicans hiding out in the town of Tesoro Azul.
This DLC package will not only include co-op missions, but new achievements/trophies, challenges and XP rewards.
The other three haven't had any information released on them yet. More on this in the coming days.
Achievements & Trophies There's about 50 achievements for 360 and trophies for PS3. 12 of them are secret. 6 are related to multiplayer. Some of them, in my opinion, contain spoilers, so I won't bother posting them. You get an achievement/trophy by tying a whore up and putting her on some train tracks where she gets run over, though. Have fun with that.
Cheats Red Dead Redemption, unlike smelly old GTA IV, boasts a large variety of cheat codes. A lot of them aren't even found yet!
Most are found in newspapers you buy, or on walls or scribbled somewhere. You can enter a cheat code by pausing the game, going to "OPTIONS" then "CHEATS" and pressing the button to enter the phrase.
Enabling a cheat disables saving and achievements until you either (A)RESTART THE SYSTEM (B)RESTART THE GAME (C)LOAD A PREVIOUS SAVE (D)START A NEW GAME
Here is all the known cheats. This does not include the list of cheats that we don't know what the phrases are for yet.
YOU GOT YOURSELF A FINE PAIR OF EYES Unlocks all the areas in the game.
HE GIVES STRENGTH TO THE WEAK Invincibility. This is bugged, as it disables itself if you turn on dead-eye, mount a horse, skin something, and doing many other simple actions.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND IMNFINITY Yes, include the spelling error. This gives you infinite Dead-Eye.
ABUNDANCE IS EVERYWHERE Infinite ammo.
THEY SELL SOULS CHEAP HERE Decreases your bounty.
I WISH I WORKED FOR UNCLE SAM You don't get a bounty no matter what. Good for fucking around in towns.
IT'S MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT Gun set #1
I'M AN AMERICAN. I NEED GUNS Gun set #2
THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL, WE THANK YOU! Gives you $500. Press it again for another $500.
BEASTS AND MAN TOGETHER Spawns a whores. (horse)
MAKE HAY WHILE THE SUN SHINES Infinite horse stamina, bro.
DON'T YOU LOOK FINE AND DANDY Unlock the shitty Gentleman's Attire outfit. I think it looks cool, just the light grey and white gloves makes it look gay.
HUMILITY BEFORE THE LORD Makes your fame 0.
I AM ONE OF THEM FAMOUS FELLAS Makes John Marston an original The Beatles member. (ie. famous)
OH MY SON, MY BLESSED SON Play as Jack Marston (Tell me if I need these spoilers or not, people who finished the game)

YOU THINK YOU TOUGH, MISTER? Unlocks all the gang outfits.
IT AINT PRIDE. IT'S HONOR MAXIMUM HONOORRRRRR

I'M DRUNK AS A SKUNK AND TWICE AS SMELLY Makes you drunk as a skunk and twice as smelly. May I suggest this + invincibility + hills or shootouts or cougars/wolves/bears?
I am also told there are these Social Club cheats. I haven't looked into it much, but you must link your account to the Rockstar Social Club, go online, check something to turn these on while you have the game open, and it will change it for you. There's cheats like getting different levels of Dead-Eye, spawning donkeys, changing weather, raising/lowering honor. Again, I haven't looked into it much.
LordCrypto was a nice enough gentleman and explained how to get the Social Club cheats. LordCrypto posted: Oh the R* cheats work by creating a account, putting it in game, and then going to the newspaper page on the RDR site and click claim on a treasure chest on the left side towards the bottom. And Lebowski provided a list of the Rockstar Social Club cheats.
*Increase Bounty cheat - Raise your bounty immediately. * Bad Guy cheat - Grant yourself the lowest honor. * So-so Guy cheat - Give yourself a neutral honor. * Change Weather cheat - Cycle through the weather. * Donkey Rider cheat - Spawn a donkey to ride. * Dead Eye Level 1 - Reset your Dead Eye to level 1. * Dead Eye Level 2 - Reset your Dead Eye to level 2.
Fun Facts Vultures will eat the remains of fallen foes
Rainy weather can form puddles, while exceptionally dry whether can leave the ground dusty
Dust devils occasionally kick up
There are moon cycles
Ghost towns will revive in 2-3 in-game days
NPCs can hold grudges. A man you beat up in the saloon may come back later with a gun.
Each NPC follows their own routine and way of a life. For example, one spend all day working in a blacksmith, then at closing time head off to the saloon for a couple drinks before going home.
Riding a horse in rough terrain is slower than riding on a trail or road
If you ride too fast in the rough brush it can get agitated and buck you
Game includes the "Wilhelm scream" and exaggerated "stunt man" physics and ultra-precise hat and gun shooting
A gut shot can make the NPC crawl on the ground and slowly bleed out
Horses will spew a jet of blood when shot due to higher blood pressure
Horses will get spooked by gunshots and might dump their rider
Their rider's foot may get caught in the stirrup and they might be dragged off
And now what you've all been waiting for.
Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer has had nearly as much time and effort put into it as the singleplayer has. There are several gamemodes and activities you can play taking place all across the singleplayer landscape. Remember in GTA IV where the game lobby was just a list of the settings the game had? That is no more. Instead, the game is the game lobby.
You start off in a free-roam match in the whole singleplayer map (New Austin + Mexico). You're free to run around, fuck with stuff, complete gang hideouts, have a shootout with the local lawmen, complete bounties missions, hunt, complete challenges, lots of things. Me and a buddy went bear hunting once.
There are 16 players allowed in a game (Which seems kind of small compared to the massive amount of land you can traverse) and in free-roam you're allowed to create a posse, which can consist of a maximum of 8 players and allow you to travel together more easily, voice chat within your posse more easily, go hunting etc. Kind of similar to GTA IV, there are different levels you can upgrade to in Redemption. There are 50 levels, and you unlock something each time you level up. It works like any other game. You get XP (experience points) by killing people, completing things, winning, etc. There is no tactical nukes in this game unfortunately. There is an outfitter, which will allow you to pick your character from roughly 90 models and 11 mounts (horses, bulls, donkeys etc.) you can choose from. There are also titles, which appear below your gamer tag in a game. There are a whole fuckton of titles which you can unlock by leveling up, completing challenges, getting new weapons, competing in things, being in stats etc. Roughly 250 titles. In level 46, you unlock "The Ugly" as a title. Level 47 is "The Bad" and Level 48 is "The Good". Nice reference, Rockstar.
There is also an official deathmatch mode called "Shootout". More players you kill, the more XP you get, the better. The cool thing about this gamemode, and every other gamemode, is that it starts off in a Mexican standoff. If you don't know what that is, it's basically a duel between all the players. Everybody stands in a circle opposite eachother. Whoever's last standing gets a headstart. It's fun as fuck. I want a whole gamemode based on that.
"Capture the Bag" gamemodes are a whole other section of gamemodes.
Gold Rush Gold Rush is a CTB mode. The game area has a bunch of bags and chests and stuff. You have to carry as much of them as possible. The more you carry, though, the slower you get.
Hold Your Own Each team has a bag that they have to guard and keep other players from stealing. Red Dead Wikia does a nice job of explaining it, so here. Red Dead Wikia posted: Hold Your Own is a Capture the Flag variant in Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer. Two teams with their own sides of the map, which either can be two small towns separated by sprawling frontier or a pair of corners within the same walled outpost depending on the scale of a given map. Players race from one side to the other on foot or horseback trying to capture the other team's bags of gold, engaging in shootouts along the way. On the bigger maps, defensive positions are available in the form of Gatling gun turrets and cannons. Grab the Bag Grab the Bag is your standard capture the flag gamemode, but instead of capturing a flag you capture a bag (HURR CLEVER). Both teams go after one bag. Very simple, very fun.

If anybody trolls on either PS3 or 360 pages, you can easily go to an earlier revision (advanced options) and load up a version of the list without the damage done.
Also I'm afraid I hit the 50 images limit, so you understand if I can't put everything I want to.
